This Argentinian band will rock your socks off into oblivion.
Howdy folks! Long time, no see huh? It's been a hell of a ride from the last time we checked in to now, with finals happening and me being sent on all of these tasks by different people, this is the first time that I've really sat down and written something. I've been stuck in the most absurd writer's block, which I know y'all care so much about. Just look at my reader stats! I'm kidding, y'all are great if you do sit down and read the stuff I pull out of my ass sometimes, I'm really grateful for y'all.
All sappiness aside, my heart has been yearning for an artist or band to delve into this summer. Each summer or long-ish break, I make an oath to myself that I'll find at least one (1) new band or artist or genre that I throughly enjoy, a sound for the summer that I can reminisce when the months get colder again. So picture this, right? I'm laying in bed, trying to figure out what the hell I'm supposed to write about or who I'm going to obsess over for the summer months. I've texted my friends, begging for help when something comes up on my TikTok.
Two girls from Argentina who met in 2021 that have just recently started releasing songs. Of course, me being me, I'm highly skeptical of TikTok musicians especially when it comes to anything rock or indie rock (I blame the Machine Gun Kelly effect for this). But there was a voice in my head that was kind of nagging me to check them out a little more.
Ladies, gents, and them's, when I tell you I was shocked to say the very least, you best believe I was not expecting what I was expecting. This duo has amounted a huge following in just two years and they're...actually really good? Their sound (as described by them) is reminiscent of The Strokes, while from personal observation, they also have elements of Inhaler.
Now this isn't to say they're ripping them off because their sound is most certainly their own. I feel like the inspiration is a great way to get listeners interested, it definitely worked on me! Their original music, which they've just recently dropped two singles, have an inner-city-dive-bar feel to them in the best way possible. I could definitely imagine myself in a pool of sweaty bodies, rocking out to their originals on stage. Think of riding in the car with your best friends at night, blasting music as you revel in your youth. That is what Pacifica is.
Their sound is straight up addicting, and this is made only more evident with their single that just dropped today titled, Anita. This single is what further solidified my membership to the Pacifica fan club, along with their single With Or Without You that dropped earlier this year. Think of the indie/alt rock guru you so desperately needed in your high school years, but you just couldn't find the right band. Well, you've got them here now, so you might as well hop on the train before they sell out venues in the very near future. Pacifica is THE band you don't want to miss.
